I have marshaled at Cornish Horseman’s Day for many years now. This year it was held on Sept. 12, 2009. It is a fun day of racing at the local track here in my town, known as the Cornish Trotting Park at the Cornish Fairgrounds. Many amateur horsemen and women are given the chance to try their skills at harness racing. This year's event benefited the Cornish Fairgrounds Restoration Fund.
In the past, I have marshaled as a member of the SPHO-Maine. Because I am no longer a member, I had not planned to marshal this year. However, Diann the organizer called just a week before the event to ask if the Standardbred Performance Society was interested in sending any volunteers. WHY SURE! It seemed as though SPHO-Maine had no marshals to send, so SPS was invited instead!
So both Shelly and McKeever joined Dreamy and I for the day. We had such a blast! I love to marshal and meet-and-greet with the crowd. It was an overcast day with a slight drizzle, but despite that, we had a great time together! Plus the infield is a GREAT place to canter! :)
PLEASE LET US EAT GRASS! LOL!
