New Beginnings for Miss Snappy

My regular readers probably remember Snap Dancer, the horse I trained under saddle and then won our first ever under saddle race in September.  Snappy had a disappointing last few starts in harness for her owner, and I knew her time was limited.  I worried and worried about Snappy, afraid she would be shipped or sent to an unknown fate.

As luck would have it, I was given the opportunity to have Snappy this winter.  She is boarded at a very nice Standardbred training barn here in my town and they are giving her impeccable care.  I have been grooming and working with her and she is so happy!  She seems to be sound and comfortable, which is important to me.  She was always such a "crabbypants" mare, but now after a week and a half she has started to show her true sweet side.

I don't know why I got so attached so quickly to this horse.  She is just a special girl.  :-)

Gorgeous remodeled barn!

Happy!

Cute mare!

Oh, she loves to roll in her stall!  LOL!  That was fun to brush off!

Pretty!

  1. Yay for Snappy! :) Did they give her to you? Or are you just wintering her over?

  4. Totally jealous of the pretty barn.

Totally NOT jealous of your weather--I can see by your "outfit" that you've got much colder temps than we have here in the Swamp!

Totally happy that you and Snappy are hanging out again. I know what you mean about cranky mares. They don't come any grouchier than my Dragon, and yet...I'm unduly fond of the big grump.
