Wentworth Hunter Pace - June 6, 2021

After Margaret and I had such a fun time at the fall hunter pace, we opted to go again this spring! This time, while I rode Rejoice again, Margaret rode her horse Jester and had a friend ride Ladyhawke. All Kennebec Morgans!! Jester and Rejoice have the same dam and Jester and Lady share the same sire. Unfortunately instead of a lovely late spring day, we had one of the first intensely hot and humid days of the year. It was definitely a bummer, but the ride was mostly in the shade of the woods and we had a great time!  most of the fences were 3' coops but we found a small log and this hay to jump haha Until we didn't. 😑 We brought along a third friend who rode Margaret's older mare, Ladyhawke. She's a good rider but hasn't known Ladyhawke for very long and didn't realize how much of a cranky boss mare she could be at times. She kicked Jester right in the front leg just about halfway through the ride, and while the cut itself ended up not being a big deal in the

Day 14 - Your dream barn/farm

I love my little farm, but man, if the budget was unlimited, there are so many things I would add!  LOL!

I would want a ring like this:

Dragged daily, of course!  ;-)

Plus, gotta have a separate jump field.

And an indoor, of course!
This would be fine.

My tack room would have to be much larger.

A wash stall would be nice!

And while I currently only have two stalls, I don't think I would add any more LOL!  It is enough work right now to own two horses, never mind adding more!  So unless I also get to choose the dream job of not having a job (haha), then I think I would increase the storage space in my barn (for my carriages and totes full of blankets that are currently in my basement).  My husband could use his own "tack" room, as he has a bazillion yokes that are also currently in our basement.  While yokes are considerably cheaper than say, a saddle, the oxen outgrow them much faster than a horse, so he literally has 5" to 10" yokes.  You measure in between where the bows fit into the yoke, so as the pair grows larger, you need a larger yoke!

I'd love to finish every fence line with the white vinyl we already have started.  We just did the front section for now, because (you guessed it) budget.  While we are at it, might as well add acres and acres of more grazing land.

And while we are in dreamland, how about I don't have to pay more in taxes for this dream farm and I have a groundskeeper haha!  ;-)

  1. Wow. What a place. My dream farm would be mine but with an indoor and more land to carve out trails and a field for galloping. :)
